AfP members on principled negotiation with Iran
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Alliance for Peacebuilding voices are desperately needed to speak out in support of principled negotiation with Iran. Many of our sources in DC and the Middle East tell us there is a real danger of a military strike against Iran before the November elections.
This is a crucial time for our community to speak out on the importance of principled negotiation, conflict resolution and nonviolent problem-solving. We are asking for your help in three ways.
1. Write an OpEd for your paper on principled negotiation with Iran - we can help you with media contacts and editing - even sending you a rough draft!
2. Add your name/organization to the Campaign for a New American Policy in Iran (CNAPI, at www.newiranpolicy.org ), which enjoys the support from a broad array of national security groups and affiliates (http://www.newiranpolicy.org/452/index.html ).
The message is simple:
No military strikes against Iran Engage in diplomatic talks with Iran Open and develop people-to-people exchanges with Iran
3.Speak to the media: We are also looking for experts for the media to speak on various aspects of the conflict. You wouldn't have to be an expert on Iran per se, but on principled negotiation, conflict resolution, reconciliation, etc.
4. Visit your leaders in local, regional governments. [ ] You can introduce yourself, your organization's mission and talk about principles of negotiation - and what we could do to relate to Iran.
Please let us know at your soonest if you will join us, and please feel free to be in touch if you have any questions or comments.
Many thanks, and best regards to all,
